Raeside Architects was formed in 2003 by Eugene Raeside M.R.I.A.I., after 18 years in the residential and commercial sector as a building design professional.
In that time, we have been architects for numerous projects including bespoke one-off houses, extensions, remodelling and refurbishment of existing houses, including older “listed” buildings, apartment blocks and offices. But we are not just building designers; we are shepherds for your project aspirations, shaping and guiding each element of the project through to hand-over to you.
When you work with us, your signature will become apparent in the work, be it the reflection of an organisational mission, the aspirations of a community, or the interests and passions of a residential client.
We know it’s personal for you; it is for us too.

OLDER BUILDINGS
Working with older buildings needs specialist knowledge. Respect the building and the past or the building will fight back and cause you problems later!
our expertise
DESIGN AND PLANNING
Our work begins with listening to you, the client, and understanding your ultimate goals for the project. We will also usually need to gather information about the building and/or site. A measured design response then emerges after careful consideration and observation and this continues to evolve throughout the design process in collaboration with you and others.
Planning permission drawings ultimately emerge from this process for submission to the local planning authority for their approval.
CONSTRUCTION STAGE
Getting the building right for you means a great deal to us, and we can’t do it without your input. Elements such as materials and finishes and the things you will touch, use and see every day can be personal to you and so be prepared for making lots of choices!
You will want the quality of the finished work to be high, and your building to comply with the various building construction regulations. If your builder is to achieve this, he will need detailed construction drawings and specifications for all of the elements that should go into the construction.
Our commitment to ensuring a successful outcome for you extends to preparing all of this documentation (with the help of others e.g., a structural engineer) as well as physical site inspections, where we can “keep an eye on things” as progress is made.
CERTIFICATION
When you commission us as architects, we become committed to you and your project. As such (assuming all goes well!) your completed building will benefit from compliance certification from us in some form or other.
Commercial projects are usually required by law to have the works inspected and declared compliant by an architect or equivalent professional. Sometimes what is required is an architects opinion on design compliance and sometimes lending institutes require certification using their own forms.
Whatever form of “certification” is needed, we can usually oblige.
